FAQ
To receive treatment, an individual must meet eligibility criteria established by the New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities. Once their functionality and level of need is determined, a support coordinator will meet with the individual and their family to conduct an assessment and provide referrals to appropriate service providers. Individuals and their families may request to work with ABS as their service provider.
We believe in strong partnership with families to ensure that care for your loved one is consistent around the clock. Families are trained on the application of ABA principles to help facilitate progress. By understanding behavioral triggers, caregivers and family members can learn to respond appropriately so positive behaviors are reciprocated.
Services for adults are delivered through the state of NJ, which provides funding and referrals once an individual has received an autism or developmental disability diagnosis. ABS is an in-network provider with most insurance providers for children’s services. For specific coverage questions, please consult your plan provider.
Yes. In behavioral cases, a BCBA will advise the individual’s care. Our BCBAs design the treatment plan, instruct the staff and train the family to ensure consistency in the way that certain behaviors are handled. BCBAs take a data-driven approach in making sure the individual is receiving exactly the care they need.
All applicants are carefully vetted before they’re considered for employment. At ABS, we never hire anyone we wouldn’t feel comfortable bringing into our own homes. As part of our process, we review their work history, education, criminal record, driver abstract and a DYFS screening. Applicants are also required to undergo drug screening.
We require our employees to receive CPR training, first-aid training, crisis training, and ABA training, as well disability-specific training for a comprehensive approach to care.
